UniTwain is a virtual TWAIN scanner software developed by Terminalworks that acts as a universal bridge between your PC applications and various non-traditional image sources.
Instead of requiring a physical flatbed scanner, UniTwain mimics a real scanning device inside Windows. This allows any TWAIN-compliant software (such as accounting tools, electronic medical records (EMR) systems, or document management platforms) to pull files seamlessly from digital cameras, smartphones, or existing local files. Key Features
Turn Devices into Scanners: You can pull document scans or images directly into your PC software using a smartphone, tablet, 4K webcam, or digital camera.
UniTwain Mobile & SmartScan: By using the companion app on Google Play or the App Store, you can snap a photo of a document on your desk. The software automatically crops out the background, removes shadows, and enhances contrast so it looks like a traditional flatbed scan.
File Format Importer: It allows you to “scan” existing files on your computer. You can import and push common formats like BMP, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and multi-page PDFs directly into your target application’s scanning prompt.
Built-in Image Editor: Before finalizing the import into your primary software, you can crop, deskew, re-order pages, or adjust contrast and saturation inside UniTwain.
Hardware Layer Enhancement: It can sit as a virtual layer over an old or basic office scanner, giving it advanced modern software features. Deployment and Pricing Terminalworks Blog | UniTwain 2.0 has been released!
